DESCRIPTION:
The wagyu beef served here comes directly from their sister restaurant Steak House Ciel Bleu. The style of the restaurant is more akin to that of a French restaurant than a humble curry house which adds a touch of class to complement the high class beef on the menu.

The menu centers around high-grade wagyu beef and a Japanese-style curry sauce. You can even get a Kuroge Wagyu steak curry. A variety of local pickles are also on hand to supplement your dish.
ACCESS:
Wagyu Suji Curry is located on Sanjo-dori street facing the Higashimuki Shopping Arcade. It's on the 2nd floor a few doors down from the famous mochi pounding shop.

Buta to Espresso to is famed for its massive serving of juicy pork, dark rice curry suace and slice of local charm that can't be put into words. Located in the back of a mini food court, the whole layout captures the aura of a time gone by.

Each curry comes with generous serving of sauce and rice. The 200g domestic pork cutlet curry is their best seller among repeat customers. They als have some dessert offereing, namely a large pudding with various toppings.

CURRY TAGAWA
Japanese curry at its finest
DESCRIPTION:
If you love Japanese-style curry, then Curry Tagawa is the place to go. It is a small and simple place that has a very specialized menu: CURRY. The shop has been in business since 1966 and is loved by the locals. The current shop was rebuilt in the same place as the original a few years ago, but they have retained some of the decor from the old place.
MENU DETAILS:
The menu reads like this: Huge Curry, Big Curry, Medium Curry, Small Curry, Extra Small Curry, Toppings: raw egg or fried egg, Hot Coffee, Ice Coffee. You can get another serving of curry sauce for free!

It is located just a short walk from Nara Prefectural Museum of Art, on the outskirts of Nara Park.

Sri Lankan Curry with a Japanese twist
DESCRIPTION:
An authentic Sri Lankan restaurant with an extensive menu. Unlike many eateries in Nara, they stay open throughout the day. They also have a kitchen car and attend various events throughout the year, so there's a good chance you will bump into them elsewhere.

The menu covers an array of set meal deals and side dishes to suit many tastes. the drinks menu also includes an array of international beers.

KOMUGIKO

DESCRIPTION:
"Komugiko" means "wheat flour" and altough we visited to enjoy their curry, Kumigiko is actually a "wheat flour specialty restaurant" that gathers dishes made with wheat flour from around the world. The owner is also a keen potter and all tableware used here has been handcrafted by her. Many of her worls are also on display.

The menu is quite ecclectic, they offer fried foods, pasta, pizza, as well as African and Latin American dishes.

Traditional Japanese house meets avant garde cafe

Yostsuba Cafe is located in Nara-machi. It's in a reformed traditional townhouse - traditional decor, low ceilings, steep stairs and buckets of charm. . Yotsuba cafe is a great place to relax with a book over a coffee or delicious cake while getting a taste of traditional Japanese architecture. Inside the cafe there is also a little handi-craft store selling all manner of cute accessories.

The menu may not be extensive, but everything is prepared with the utmost care, providing a culinary experience that belies the reasonable cafe-esque prices. The Yotsuba Chicken Curry comes with rice grown on their own farm in Tenri city. There are plenty of drinks on the menu and wonderfully decorated seasonal desserts.

Wakakusa curry has developed a big international reputation and is frequented by foreign tourists, expats and locals alike. Keep an eye out for the spinach curry ramen.

The curry on the menu could be described as an Indian-Japanese style hybrid with a great selection of Vegan-friendly offerings. The spice level of the curry can also be customised.
